Rooms/The Liberace Suite...

I think of this room as "I am curious yellow." It has a daffodil glow about it. Maybe it's the hint of tropical sands or the suggestion of the exotic Sahara, I don't know and neither will you. There is mystery here. If anyone has ever said you have Attention Deficit Disorder, book this room immediately. It cannot disappoint you. There is flamboyance reminiscent of the room's eponymous entertainer but there are also hints of musicality along with a complete redefinition of masculinity. Can we start with the leopard print California King size bed? On the nightstand beside it, a turban-wearing blackamoor in pantaloons and a golden earring holds a torch lamp to his naked chest. Are you still with me? Thought so. On the wall above him hula girls and pearl divers share space with flamingos and a Jamaican traffic cop. Why? Keep circling to the right and you'll run into the god of the kitchen counter, a Hawaiian idol - also turbaned, also bare chested, also bearing light. He's substituted tight BVDs for pantaloons and has a flowing cape in case the evening turns formal. This room is channeling Elvis fer sher, and not just in terms of perverse hillbilly appetites - notice the bed's steel frame roses headboard, the matching tucked cushion bench at the foot of the bed…there's music, too! There are bent wire images of a piano player (Liberace!) with birthday cake sized candles that have melted to a full droop from the heat one August when the air wasn't turned on…and cello player (we think it's Pablo Casals). Elvis is in the bathroom…on the wall, not the floor. There are lovely Turner prints of tropical scenes, amber jeweled hanging lamps, I mean it is over the top. People have wandered in to this room and never been seen again.
